This 400 page volume provides the definitive history of the original circuit, which drew up to 100000 spectators in its hey day of SA Grands Prix, Nine Hour and Wynns 1000 endurance races and the like. The book contains over 1100 photos, many of which have never before been published. The author has covered the early days of motor racing in South Africa and thereafter the international events held at Kyalami, including the respective entry lists, qualifying grids and results.
A special chapter is also devoted to the famous Kyalami Ranch located just up the road from the circuit, which hosted most of the international drivers. Fans will also enjoy the profiles of local racing greats such as Sarel van der Merwe, Basil van Rooyen, John Love, Dave Charlton, Arnold Chatz, Bob Olthoff, Eddie Keizan, Paddy Driver and others.
On top there are personal letters and memories to the author from Jackie Stewart, Jochen Rindt, Denny Hulme, Derek Bell and others as well as interesting background documents and information. And if that was not enough the book's envelope contains an 80 minutes film DVD with unique material of races between 1969 and 1983. Footage certainly never seen before in Europe.
Author André Loubser, 410 pages, more than 1100 photos, English text. This volume comes with an 80-minute film DVD.
