T-Shirt Daytona 24 Hours Winner 1970

John Wyer Automotive raced Porsche's new weapon 917 in the World Championship of Makes in 1970 in the typical blue and orange of the team. The first race at Daytona brought a battle against Ferrari, Matra, Chevron, Lola and of course a large number of American and European GT-cars. Brian Redman was nominated for both cars No.1 and No.2 sharing No.1 with Jo Siffert and joining the sister car with Pedro Rodriguez and Leo Kinnunen. After 24 hours the No.2 car finished first, 45 laps ahead of the No.1 Porsche 917 at an average of 184.859 kph.

May 28th 1983: Qualifying session of the Group C cars for the 1000 km World Sportscar Championship race at the Nordschleife circuit of the Nurburgring. Works Porsche driver Jochen Mass has just set an incredible lap record of 6:15.85 min in the Rothmans works 956. While other drivers like Bob Wollek or Keke Rosberg say that the ground effect cars have become too fast and dangerous for the old circuit, Stefan Bellof enters the #2 Rothmans Porsche works car heading for the pole position. It is to be the fastest lap ever recorded at the old Green Hell Nurburgring Nordschleife.

The lap time of 6:11.13 min breaks the sonic barrier of 200 km/h average speed for the first and last time. 202.14 km per hour at a track of more than 20 km length which Jackie Stewart once described as the Green Hell.
